[solved] Windows 7 will not install, tried everything. help - Page 2

seems like the windows usb tool makes an .exe which makes no sense. it doesnt find a bootable when i select usb-fdd as my boot device.

/edit selecting usb-zip solved that. will keep u all updated. 1 hour till the new iso is downloaded. iso verfier said my iso was not a recognized version of windows. i started downloading an iso that had every version of windows 7 from another thread, it was 3.0 GB, the one i got for 7 pro upgrade is 3.1 gb. i am wondering if this isnt passing verfication because it is a special version or something, so students buying 30 dollar software cant use it as 300 dollar software...

still no success. pretty frustrating at this point.

i downloaded the iso again, in case the first one was corrupted. same problem. it gets to 52% and then stops with the error.

i'm going to install a windows xp torrent i found that requires no activation... or is already activated, not sure how it works. then install over it. certainly not the prefered method but hopefuly it works.

this is because of the size. more to stop cracked copies than student copies [which doesn't work anyways.. haha]

there is information on how to fix this.. I'll try and find the thread I read but you can do some googling yourself.

It sounds like you might have a computer problem; I had an issue like this once traceable to an IDE cable being left connected to a HD that had no electrical power to it. Pulled the IDE connector, and bam, on the next reinstall it worked fine.

be sure the CPU is not OCed, and that your memory is running at SPD timings.

Sorry but has anyone even realised you are trying to install a Windows 7 64bit Upgrade version on a new hard drive?

You can only use the UPGRADE version to install on an old Window XP or Vista, it is not for use on a new computer..

Anyway if you have an .iso file you can batch the file using this website, be sure to read it all first and it also has a program that will Batch Check the file with Microsoft: -

Let me know how you get on.

everything is stock in bios. memory is not at SPD but rather the basic option, with 9-9-9-28-2 and it is 8-8-8-24 ram. as for components in the computer, i have the minimum. one of everything basically, except two sticks of ram. there is only one hard drive and it is connected with sata

You never once, in this topic, mentioned that you already had a Windows installed on the disc, you referred to it in your OP as "new".

The only thing you did mention, is that you're going to pirate an XP iso from a torrent site and use that one.

Secondly, posting sarcastic comments like that, isn't advisable, especially since said member, merely tried to help you.

i said, in my OP, that i will be double installing the upgrade on a NEW hard drive. and that microsoft stated that this is not illegal.

after countless attempts to get this to work i had considered using a pirated copy of XP to upgrade from. i really have no intention of doing that.

so no, i never said i had windows installed, because that would completely contradict EVERYTHING about this entire thread. it has never installed.

I retract, I mistook that part of your post for some rediculously long signature.
