i5 2500k in ASRock Z68

Thread Starter
I'm posting this here both as a reference to others and to see if anyone can help me improve upon it. I'm VERY new to OC'ing (just built a desktop for the first time) and am already a bit addicted

EDIT: And of course as soon as I posted this my computer restarted while running Prime. Does anyone know why this happens? I always get a hard restart - never a freeze or BSOD.

You probably need more vcore. Bump up a notch and try it again.
Please fill out your system specs in your userCP.
Also those are useful apps ==> RealTemp for CPU temp reading, CPU-Z for CPU clock and memory information, GPU-Z for gpu readings, LinX with AVX (win7 sp1 required) for quick stability test.
And of course Prime95.

Frankenberry, i will be getting my z68 next friday and i will help you all i can. Right now i'm in the dark untill then. Hopefully someone in the mean time can jump in here. For now though i would bump the vcore up a notch and run prime95 for stability.

I would bump it to 1.31 or 1.32. I would think you would get some stability at thpse voltages.
I spoke with ASRock and it's the same for any Sandy Bridge OC 24/7. Disable Intel SpeedStep, C1E Halt State, C3 State Support, C6 State Support and Package C Support. Then when you find your sweet spot for voltages and LLC level you can enable everything back on.

I used prime small ffts to get the vdrop from stock settings on load for each of the llc levels then used the vid at the multi i wanted and chose the voltage and offset that was the smallest for my oc.

I did notice when vcore was too low, bsod, the board is finicky. if it restarts, it's usually not enough vcore, but you are using llc 2 for 45x with a negative offset. that could be it, llc 2 and i'm going for 47x or 48x with a + offset.
