what I found its almost 40 a foot for fiber in my area. stay with cat 6.

Also setup a closet with cooling and have that as a central point for all your media and internet needs. Set this place up with modem, router, stereo, etc etc etc... trust me it will be easier. Then run a line into each room and run speaker cables to the ceiling in the party areas and main living room. you will make your life much easier later down the line for doing this.

Since a house is supposed to at least last you 20-30 years, I would go fiber. At one point there will be a strong possibility of getting FtH in your area, or some greater technology as well.
You will be fairly future proofed for the best download/upload speeds.

Especially if money is no object.
From what I know, fiber needs to have different connecters to read the signal at each input/output line. So you need to run the wire as normal, but then at hubs you need to attach an adapter that reads and converts the information into something that can run on a cat 6 cable.

i was reading about converting light signal into electrical signal. something of a hub. but as duckieho pointed out it these NIC cards do run alot of money. i guess i'll run the fiber lines in between the walls for now and just leave them there. so i don't have to yank down the wall when they get more popular. and just use the cat6 in the mean time.

That's actually really smart, put in the infrastructure, since that is relatively cheap, and do what it takes to activate it later when needed.

Put down some Cat6a.
You will be fine for 10 gbps over UTP in the coming years and toward the future.

Also, the argument about running fiber in your home simply to have something like FiOS where you have fiber running to your house is completely baseless. A 1 gbps WAN connection can easily be facilitated by cat5e.

Fiber is still relatively too expensive for the consumer market right now. All the NIC and routers are still above $200. If you want to run Fiber just make sure you know which type you are putting in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-mode_optical_fiber Multimode should be used in buildings or campuses ( Short distance) Single mode is long distances.
