Not really, even with a 750w PSU you'll have a little room to breathe.
AX850 <- Modular, and it will give you more room to OC and add another card in the future if you choose too.

People just think that their systems pull A LOT of wattage due to the cards etc.. But the only time you'll need a 1000w PSU is if you wanna run like 3 580's in SLI..

I think an AX850 would suffice if he had SLI 580's with no OC, and a slight OC on the 2600k. If he wanted OC on everything, I think a 1kw PSU would be safe, and would allow a 3rd card if he really wanted.

There seems to be a unofficial move on OCN to stop with the "200w headroom" recommendations, more of a move to get it just right.

2nd Post.

I still say 1000w is overkill, and some people agree. Not trying to bash you or anything and say your wrong, I just don't want to see this guy spend money he doesn't have to..

For someone who has expressed interest in 3d, headroom for an extra GPU is not a terrible idea.

I am a big headroom promoter.I can think of more reasons to go big than to match the need, but I routinely see a move away from the "just to be safe" or the "perhaps in the future" reasons for going big.I get the idea people are saying,"when you really ,actualy add that extra equipment then change out the power supply, otherwise go by actual current need".
