Folding, sure it'd be better. Otherwise, no it would just add more heat, power useage, and one GPU would sit there doing nothing.

And yes, they did release motherboards that could do that. Lucid Hydra if I remember it correctly. However its EXTREMELY glitchy, and they only see scaling with specific games.

At the OP:
You're going to have driver issues (yes it'll work, but you will likely have issues), you will have no way to USE both cards (unless folding), and its just more power draw and heat. Stick with the stronger card, and sell your old one (so keep the 560Ti, sell the HD6850). You cannot use both for gaming, that's for sure.

Ya but two 6850s are as good and sometimes better than a gtx 580.

I agree grab another 6850.

Maybe. But two would perform better than a single 560, all you have really done is a side-grade, two 6850's would have been a better choice.

You cannot use Crossfire/SLI in the same system, but you can run those two cards together - And BTW, for those guys that say there are driver issues (They're's none really. AMD has far more improved the driver incompatibility).

Some do, some don't. Crossfire is also going to depend on what PSU you have, and what motherboard you're running. Also what CPU you have and what clock speed.

I'd say sell your HD6850, use that cash plus whatever cash you have to buy the 560Ti, and get yourself a GTX570. Assuming your PSU can handle it of course.

so i get both 560 and 570? I'm planning on selling my 6850 just to get a 560 Ti because i don't need dual and overall the 560 is better than my 6850. just to double check, i'd need a gigabyte 560 to be compatable with my gigabyte motherboard wouldn't i?

Idk why he wants you to get both, I'd say either or. (probably miscommunication)

No to the gigabyte, doesn't need to match the motherboard brand.
