Consensus on Mushkin SSDs? - Page 2

Sit here and praise Mushkin all you want. The fact is that Sandforce provides the firmware for the drive and if they can't figure out the problem, Mushkin has no solution.

Stay away from Sandforce's newest generation drive controller. Especially since the op has a p67 chipset and OCZ says that the chipset itself is the problem.
I know someone who is the product ordering manager at a large UK retailer, he's actually got an account on here.

A few months ago he mentioned that Mushkin worked with Sandforce to iron out all the bugs BEFORE release and so far I've not heard anything about any problems with them.

Would still get the Crucial M4 myself though.

This would mean that Sandforce solved the problem for Mushkin months ago so they could ship drives yet firmware 2.11 that they gave OCZ last week is still causing issues.

Sorry gentlemen, that makes absolute zero sense. I'm sure if it were true, Corsair and OCZ would have seen both speed and stability by now.

The Mushkin will suffer the same problems as the Vertex 3, Force, Wildfire etc.

Mushkin wants people to buy their drives. We want to buy Mushkin's drives. Then there's the alternatives of getting a M4 of Intel 510. I would get a Intel 510 but I'm pretty sure it won't play nice with Bulldozer. I'm fine with the M4 though. Whichever one's less expensive then.

Personally, if it has a SF-2281 controller then I'd stay away from it.

Why wouldn't it? It's in neither company's best interest to make their products work worse on their competitor's platforms. if that's the case, they'll be alienating a large percentage of their prospective customer base.

why all the hate towards sanforce 2281? I`ve been using the force3 disc for 2 months now, all i had to do once was change out the sata cable to a spec one, and do some of the tweaks on the corsair forum, but other then that i`ve had zero problems, and i have my system on 24/7, might do a reboot once a day just to get a fresh start. I wont even update my firmware to the new one since im currently having zero problems with my drive.

Just because you had good luck with one drive doesn't mean it's the same way for every single person that has one.

There are threads on the OCZ, Corsair, Mushkin and Patriot forums about people experiencing bsod followed by drives not being recognized in bios.

My drive has the same Sandforce controller yours does. I've done 6 or so secure erases and fresh windows installs in the past 3 months trying to get stable. And there are tons of people doing the same thing.

I can't in good conscience recommend these drives to anyone knowing the grief they could go through.
