Trying to figure out what is causing the low fps in Bad Company 2

Thread Starter
Hey, I've been playing Bad Company 2 for a while now and never noticed how low my fps was because I guess I am just used to it. On the map "White Pass" i can get around 60 fps if everything is on low but on any other map whether my graphics are all the way up or all the way down (on the same resolution) my fps goes down in between 20-40 fps. What do you think is the problem?

The game is VERY CPU intesive so if you overclocked it to abotu 3.0-3.2 I would definately say you will see a difference. That will help out.

You need to get your processor up to ~3GHz. If you can get 3.2 that would be perfect.
Your Q6600 just isnt fast enough.

thanks for the response

I see you have yours @ 3.72, so 3.0-3.2 would definitely be stable?

Isn't that CPU faster than my 965 BE? Mine rarely passes 60% load when playing 16v16 Conquest with completely maxed out graphics at 1080p, I see no reasons why his should lag.

Well, every ones overclocking experiences are different, but if you get it to 3.2GHZ and run prime 95 for a while (and i mean a WHILE) and it doesn't crash, you're golden.

The game IS very CPU intensive. I upgraded from a C2D to a i5 760 and I saw a huuuuuuuuge gain.

Maybe not that long, but overnight would probably justify it. 24 hours usually is more for people that are at like 5.5GHZ and are dying to push theirs to the limit lol.

No problem. Watch your temps for a little while, to make sure they're not getting out of hand. Come back every 10 minutes or so until you get bored just to make sure they're not at like 90C (even though every CPU has a shutoff point).

Increase the FSB slowly but surely. Start at 2.8GHZ just to see what happens. The 680i is a GREAT overclocker. I had my C2D at 3.33GHZ from 2.66 on that board.
