Wow fps

post #1 of 12
Thread Starter
idk if this is the right thread to post about my problem but here i go...

Ok the only game i've been playing is World of Warcraft and when im in a major city my fps are about 40-45...when raiding during trash my fps drop to 25 and when doing bosses down to 12. So i was wondering if maybe i need to tweak my computer set up a lil more or not because for my set up i thought it was good enough for constant 60 fps.

my set up is:

Cpu = Intel Core i5 650 not OCed
Memory = 8gb 2gbx4
Motherboard = Asus P755-M-PRO
Graphic card = NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560 Ti

Any info on how to improve my fps will be greatly appreciated.

The fact that you are not having issues in normal play says its prolly not graphics. If you get 20-25 people in an area though, that's gonna peak that i5 pretty darn quickly.

So yeah, you need a bigger CPU it seems. But....i5's should be able to handle that pretty easily....

What is your Windows Experience Index? Not that it really means anything, but if it says your processor is like a 2.5, that indicates that the processor and Windows are not talking to each other correctly.

Thanks for posting you system specs here, but you can edit them in the User CP so you don't have to post them every time. It also makes it easy for us to help you if they're up to date.

Proper drivers installed? Something just doesn't seem right

do other games play nice?

If you have shadow enabled then lower it, its very taxing. My FPS almost doubles just lowering shadow one notch from max, with very little visual difference. Also the "Reduce Input Lag" feature will also lower your FPS quite a bit. Try those out.

That setup should be able to max out raids with no problem. Do you have the latest drivers installed for your 560?

I've been using the NVIDIA control panel to check for updates and it says they're up to date. My shadow is as low as it can be.
