Logitech G930 Headset.. advice?

Thread Starter
So I've been using the X11's from turtle beach for a while and it has a static sound and also requires me to unhook it when I want to switch to Xbox gaming.

My question is, is this headset a quality headset?
Will I notice an improvement?
and lastly do I need a sound card to have this headset to be of good quality?

I plan on using it for many hours every day playing FPS/MMO's/Music, and chatting on Skype.

1. No.
2. From the Turtle Beaches, probably
3. No. The G930 is a wireless headset that uses its own built in DAC

It's a bad choice, as are all "gaming headsets". Everyone here will tell you the same. We like to recommend people separate headphones+mic combinations. Headphones are much higher quality, both in terms of sound quality and in build quality.
A gaming headset will give you mediocre audio quality, generally bad wiring/build quality, and will cost much more than their worth. I know it seems convenient to just go and buy a headset, but many many people here who decided to go the headphones route will tell you just how satisfied they were.

I'd love to help you pick a different solution. If you lay out your budget and music preferences, we can help you find the perfect pair of headphones.

Music: Dubstep, mostly.
Budget: $150-200

Hopefully that works, .

Braided cable, if possible please.

Huh? Just the Xforce 11 headset from turtle beach; that is all. No Sound card, although I am open to purchasing one.

A lot of people don't like the G930s and gaming headsets in general but I love mine and you'll find plenty of others that feel the same way

If your an audiophile then a quality soundcard and headphones is probably the way to go but the G930s tick all the right boxes for me - wireless (no static hiss) surround sound (gimmick maybe, but it does work) and in my experience logitech's customer service and warranty are fantastic.

They are expensive but in my opinion worth it.

What about the Ultrasone PRO 550?
I see them on amazon right now for $129. Since I have no soundcard I would need to purchase ones; suggestions on soundcards are helpful.

That'll be a good addition. Combine it with say a Xonar DG = great deal for ~$150.

I ended up going with the Audio Technica A900 and Xonor DG. Was able to get both for 200 shipped. Figured it was a pretty good deal, both being new and all.

I know it's probably too late, but I would've gone with the Ultrasone. Don't get me wrong, the A900 are fantastic for gaming and most music, but for dubstep you might still find the bass too recessed. Either way, it'll be a superb upgrade from the Turtle Beaches.
