Difference between LED TV and Plama TV - Page 2

BUT, and this is the big point. there is NO LCD on the market yet, wich could compete with the picture quality of a plasma, when you are watching TV/Films/Sport etc.

LCD was never meant do display moving picture, they just try to adapt it, where Plasma was always meant to watch movies on it. Moving objects will never be so smooth, flicker free, and artifact free on an LCD. And then, there are the colors. Not much to say, a calibrated plasma will eat any LCD for breakfast.

LED ist just a backlighting type for LCD's. And a budget EdgeLED is even worse than an old CCFL backlit LCD, in terms of picture quality. Full led, with local dimming is a good backlighting, but picture quality will never get to a plasma, even with this. And why would you buy a fullLED LCD at 2x-3x price, as a Plasma? Nonsense.
Less-efficient per square inch
32 inch max for LCD 45 inch max for LED and from 45 inch upwards go for plasma. LED does have better contrast and brightness and as also a lot thinner so if you are going to wall mount it then instead of have 5-7 inches of TV (LCD and plasma) sticking out the wall you will have 2-4 inches. Also plasma does suffer from altitude sickness so if you live quite high above sea level the image will look weird (I don't know because I only live 15 ft above sea level and I have LCD)

EDIT: I just remembered that LCD is good for up to 200hz LED is good for up to 400hz and plasma can go up to a 600hz refresh rate and plasmas can suffer from burn in, that has been fixed with the newest plasmas on the market.

EDIT: In the winter plasma would be the most energy efficient because not only do you get to watch TV, play video games or watch a movie you will also be heating the room that you are in.

And who cares about that tiny efficiency difference, if you get everything else better with a plasma?

With good fulled local dimming lcd you will have to run it for 30 years, to save the money on the power bill back, that you spend for it in the store.

600Hz is a different story. It's the subpixel clock for plasmas.
Anyways, the refresh rate for plasmas is higher, since it has only below 1ms response time, wich an LCD will never reach. No wonder, that the only comfortable 3D picture is also on the Pana Plasmas...

Evryone recommending LED's over PLASMAS are smoking something nasty. Plasmas have better color, better black's, faster response time. The only two drawback of plasmas are heat and image retention. Both wits are very minimal issues on modern plasmas.

Edit: Forgot to mention that plasma all so have excellent viewing angles much better than any lcd/led panel.

There is a 6 month old 50 in samsung plasma TV in my girlfriends parents living room, and I always laugh because of how horrible it looks. My roomates 42 in Sharp Aquos LED TV we got almost 2 years ago blows it away picture quality wise. I know they are different sizes but they are not even in the same ballpark picture wise.

I would like to point out that even if the plasma was buyed 6 months a go does not mean that it was built 6 months a go. Compare a new model of plasma and lcd/led in the same price class and plasma will blow the led away every time.

You can't just compare 2 TVs there are Plasmas that are better than LED, LEDs better than Plasmas, Plasmas better than LCD and LCDs better than plasmas. You get what you pay for, if you buy a cheap bottom end plasma then a top of the range LED TV would have better quality. My local gym has got a 42 inch LED TV and the picture quality of my LCD is a lot better. My LCD also has darker blacks and better contrast. The LED TV in my gym is a bottom of the range and my LCD is not quite the best but it is better than most LCDs on the market today.
