The Plasma TV was over $2000 when they got it 6 months ago. I am confident that the plasma technology from 6 months to a year ago has changed minimally if at all. So even if it had been sitting for 6 months it's still a newer model TV. Roomate paid around $1100 for our aquos and it was the first full backlit LED TV on the market.

Just compare same price, same size LCD and Plasma. No doubt, that the Plasma is way better, especially at 42" and up.

However, if you are rich, and eat all the PR bull****, go for a shiny LCD LED's shining here an there, choppy artifacted fast movement, grey blacks, neon greens, and unnatural brightness blowing out your eyes. TRENDY, or isnt it?
The best are those quattron sharp idiotisms, what claim to build your picture from 4 colors, and yet, have worse image quality than a plasma Anyone saw a video camera, that can record the extra yellow chanell, or a computer wich generates graphics like that? Then where does the data for the yellow subpixels come from? Thats right, RIGHT OUT OF NOWHERE, based on estimated pr bull****.

Lets play with open cards, and NAME the models. Until that, its just another urban legend.

highly depends on default settings and whether you are 'wow'-ed / used to by oversaturated colours like many are.
Plasmas typically have much better, more realistic out of-the-box settings,

If more than Quattron is a gimmick however in theory I can see where they came from. Summed up it's a gimmick at the moment.

It would depend on that. it'll depend on the firmware, the firmware settings and the panel. Also degree of 3D effectiveness will vary with different 3DTVs.

Well LED TVs are going to be lighter, thinner, and more energy efficient.

However in my opinion (which is bias as I own a Plasma) Plasma TVs give a better picture and they are also usually the cheapest. My 50 inch weighs maybe 80 pounds and uses about 200W according to my Kill-A-Watt.

Just go into a Best Buy or other store with a lot of TVs and look at all of them. Decide for yourself which one you like because every type of TV has it's own pros as well it's own cons.

One thing though, don't worry about screen burn in with Plasmas anymore, it's pretty much non-existent anymore. The only thing you will likely see is image retention which is where the image will be visible on a lit up, black screen for a few minutes after the picture is gone. When there is other stuff going on you shouldn't see this at all.

Hope this helps, and if you want my vote, buy a Plasma.

Given todays active shutter 3D technology, the plasma is the clear winner. Why? Because of the under 1ms response time, compared to 2-8ms with an LCD. No LCD will give you that flicker free 3D, like the high-end Panasonic plasmas. That difference means you wont get a headache, or tired because of watching 3D. (wich is btw pretty much a useless technology for home yet, imho)

Neg. The newer Sony CX720's 3D feature is not bad at all. It also depends on the quality of the 3D glasses.
