Nvidia Physx (NOT in BFBC2) is able to run on a CPU and some games have have the option/capability to run Physx engine on GPU,this is known as hardware Physx.

Physx can be run also on Xbox 360,PS3 and Nintendo Wii.

But BFBC doesnt use Nvidia Physx engine for its physics,it uses the Havok Physics engine.
Worth noting is that BFBC2 supposedly uses a whole core just to process sound,if this where true then that means that you just have a single core left to run the game...and what ever is running in the background(Win7).

I have a e8400 @4ghz with a GTX460 768mb as a back up system. I installed bfbc2
average fps was in the 30's at 1680x1050 at max settings, except AA and such because there is a vram bottleneck and the cpu is completely maxed out. on my main system with a AMD 1090T at 4ghz and a GTX480 I get constant 60fps at max settings with 32x MSAA @1080p. I see usage on all 6 cores, sometimes up to 100% usage on intense scenes, but averaging about 60-70% use. my GPU stays between 70-99% use and ~900-1100mb of vram.

you may think your computer can still be considered a "gaming" computer but your CPU is severely lacking for games designed to use more than 2 cores and performance will suffer. you can pick up a cheap core 2 quad used for ~$70.

I hope you find this information useful and don't try to think I'm "bagging" on your system. hardware gets out of date and you will have to upgrade to keep up with the new generation of games coming out.
