Im still confused why people are saying "Origin is crap compared to steam!!". I can install games and play them just as fast as I can do it for steam, not sure what people dont even like about origin. I personally find origin more easier to use and even more visually appeasing.

To be honest, I prefer neither because they both enforce ridiculous regional pricing (want brink in aus? $89.99 thanks. Mafia 2? $89.99 New Vegas? $119.99 on release. Medal of honour? $79.99)

Origin is no better in that regard. Steam caught on to me early because it's still cheaper than retail and I don't have to use discs. Origin doesn't have community features like steam. I also believe your EA forum account is tied to your games, so if you get banned you lose access to your games. Remember that ordeal? Everyone wasn't defending EA then.

Each platform has their downfall. Retail is expensive and discs can get damaged/lost. Digital is generally cheaper and you will never lose your key, but if you don't have fast internet, good luck to you.

So if you think the game is worth and it's not on Steam, are you willing to buy it on Origin?

EA distributes games, DICE makes them.
I like DICE, and I will support DICE with BF3.
Just because BF3 is attached to EA, that shouldn't overshadow the game itself.

In the land of Aussie you get gouged on prices on games no matter where you buy em from, don't treat EA like the bad guy for following the pricing convention. As to the "get banned and lose your games" thing... don't get banned? I've managed to post over 2100 times on this forum without drawing anywhere near a ban. Fairly sure I can manage on their forums when the need arises that I use them.

I don't see the reason for the amount of "OMG it isn't on steam???!?!!? :O" Seriously, You have to use origin, So what. If you like the battlefield series and want to play it but it isn't on steam is that going to keep you from playing it? Just my thoughts

This is why developers should have internal alpha testing, users are treating it as a demo instead of doing their job of finding bugs solving balancing issues.

If you have a really crappy computer, I guess "bloatware" might be something as its taking up your resources. Plenty of people have pretty good computers, so installing one program doesnt really even mean anything as long as its not taking up like 90% CPU, 80% GPU, 80% of all RAM.
