Im talking about Origin itself being a massive headache. I am stationed in Japan, and there are 10s of thousands of troops in several countries around the world that we occupy apart from the Middle East. For us We can't use Origin as it force feeds you whatever foreign language that your host country speaks. Not only that, but it charges you in that countries currency which can be $10-30 more. It also downloads the game in the language of your host country.

D2D and Steam don't do this. Steam allows you to access the US store from anywhere outside the US and download games from the US servers giving you English versions of the game. Steam always charges you in dollars no matter what country you are in.

I contacted EA support and there are no plans to fix this.

So if I buy the PC version of BF3 on Origin it will cost me around $70 and be the Japanese version when downloaded. So I will be forced to play the PS3 version, as I can just order it from Amazon or get it from the Base exchange.

I have no idea what grizzleboy was trying to say but, ea is definately doing stuff that steam does not do. I am not talking about them deleting deactivating accounts, I am talking about them deleting games that were previously on the accounts which you purchased. Something steam has never done. Their whole buisness of expiration of license does not exist on a cd nor does it exist on steam. As well whenever they make a new manager none of the older games from the older managers transfer over, something steam doesn't do either when they update. This is the problem with them that over time they will delete your games as when you purchase on their download managers they have you agree to license the game for a certain time and it has been quite a small period of time, the last 3 managers only allowed me to keep my games barely for a year. This was because not only do the games expire but they don't transfer over to newer managers as you can see with the links above others have had similar situations.

look at my quote right here, it states you have an expriation date, and that currently 10 games within origins has already expired and that the license could last as little as 1 year.

http://support.ea.com/app/answers/de...sked-questions

"Q: Will my game download ever expire?
A: Digital download rights remain available for at least one year after purchase. Origin typically doesn’t retire games, and we’ve only retired around 10 of the 150 games we sell, and these have generally been because of the expiration of licensing rights. If you come across an issue, simply contact Origin Help and we'll reconfigure things for you."

something steam or direct 2 drive never does, so don't tell me that there is no clause to this rambling, If I have the choice to purchase the game or license it on origins what do you think I will do. Go ahead waist your money on another failing download manager and loose more money.

A valid point Beerpowered, my take on steam/origin was you can dl client and play games you have paid for anywhere you go, be that os or wherever. Im on the fence but I think steam just hit the front in this race. All companys should support those serving, ironic that bf3 wont be available for those doing it in rl if it goes origin only.

I think youll find this will relate to license rights for games like Tiger Woods, FIFA etc where EA have licensed things for those games (players, clubs etc etc)

See with Origin you can't download and play games you have paid for anywhere you go.

Example I visit the States and Buy a game, then when I get to Japan said game cannot be downloaded as the game isn't offered in Japan.

I regularly travel to other countries besides Japan and the US, and Origin doesn't work, while Steam does.

yeah I agree. Totally, digital distributors need to include language packs, if they disregard international languages they are shooting themselves in the foot especially piracy wise. Now japan and USA has the lowest piracy in the world 20% usa and 21% japan, the rest of europe and austrailia is around 30%, but for any other language or place that they neglect to support the piracy goes right up to the 70-90% range. So neglecting any place whether its 1st world or 3rd world nation is asking for piracy and the citizens or PC users are not to blame the developers set themselves up, just imagine how you would feel if microsoft decided to not support your nation on their OS or office suite, its not just neglecting you but in many ways can put you in a disadvantage.

Why not just get a physical copy on PC then?

You're going to get a physical copy anyway if you get a PS3 version and all you need to do to play an origin game is click on the huge game icon so language barrier wouldn't really be a problem.

Spudgunn read my links above, your wrong its not just for addons its for games, I have experienced it numerous times, now I have bought games that date all the way back to 2005 from ea, but still after 1-2 years they always delete them. Take it from me I have experience from it and is the reason why now after 4 ******* managers within 6 years its time for me to stop.

Read his post again. He never said anything about add-ons.
