He's right: it will be fine. The reason why 1.65V is not recommended is because the default VCCIO voltage is 1.0000V (so, they're not talking to DIY'ers like us - they know we will figure this out). The recommended maximum gap between the VCCIO and DRAM Voltage is 0.5V which is why the recommended DRAM Voltage is about 1.5V.

So when using 1.65V memory, just use the 1.65V with a VCCIO voltage of 1.15000V, and it should be as smooth as butter.

As others have said, 1.65V RAM will work with some minor tweaking, but I'm at the point where I'm about to put my RAM on eBay and buy 1.5V modules instead. I don't like the increased voltages and extra heat being generated by my system now that I have been thoroughly stress testing today and making the proper adjustments to get everything stable. I probably won't determine what I'm going to do until I find out what temperatures I get for my system under load with the case cover back on.

Another question:

Which would be a better option, considering better overclock & performance..
1. Selling my current 4GB (2X2GB) XMS3 1600mhz, and replacing with 8GB (2X4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz

OR

2. Keeping my 4GB modules and getting another 4GB (2X2GB) set.

2x4GB.
Generally: More modules = higher IMC stress = greater chance of OC stability issues at given voltage

Besides, it is always nice to have some slots free just in case you feel like getting 16GB for no good reason
