A Note on BGB 9

Thread Starter
I just wanted to make a note on the past BGB.

As a team, we all voted on how we wanted the rules to go in BGB 9 and at the end of that vote it was mentioned in the official thread that according to the vote, credit hoarding would not be allowed. Regardless, some members decided that they would do it anyway and I find this disappointing.

I think that every single person who voted (both for and against) should be disappointed as well since these members basically said in so many words, your vote doesn't matter, I do what I want.

If being a top producer, or a prize contributor, or anything else of that nature allows one to just do what they want, then that's not a team and it's certainly not a democracy.

I know that most people don't want to argue or see arguments all over the BOINC section, but when it comes to a vote people did make their voices heard and they were ignored, so that's the reason (and the only reason) that I'm posting this. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun in BGB 9, so I don't think this should be dragged through the mud interminably. I think we should just set down the rules as they were voted on and go forward with that for BGB10.

Get over it already. This isn't a contest for the most points so what difference does it make? You should be happy that people are willing to sacrifice there time and money for the team, not telling them how to do it.

That's just it, I'm not the one telling them. There was a vote.

Look, if that's the general consensus, that's cool. But you can't tell me that this is much of a team if things are agreed upon and then just cast aside.

And I'll be happy about what I want to be happy about. You don't tell me what to be happy about, and I won't tell you how to use your equipment, ok?

AMEN to that! Seems there is always someone wants to "FROWN UPON" others in a totally voluntary group... it's all about control... and you can't control how people use their computers. Some folks just like to raise hell for fun and recreation... or whatever reason.. This is REALLY an old topic... nag nag nag...

PS: This AIN'T a democracy, it's a FORUM & TEAM run by the BOSS!!! You don't like it, complain all you want, won't do any good unless the BOSS says we can't contribute to BGB because we HORD LIKE HELL AND LOVE IT!!! Us HORDERS are doing the TEAM BOOST IN POINTS part of BGB!

How very mature. Just remember that it was you who said that you would abide by what was voted on and what "the BOSS" said were the rules.

He said what the rules are in the BGB thread. You even replied directly to it.

Just in case you forgot.

You saw what the rule was and broke it. Go ahead and call me all sorts of names and tell me what I can't do. In the end, you saw what the rule was and broke it.

Image appropriate to you two

Fact of the matter is:

Quote:
What is the monthly "BOINCers Gone Bonkers" event?
Similar to the Foldathons; this is a 48-hour period where everyone fires up every computer they have, and tries to earn as many credits as they possibly can in an effort to boost our team ranking in both overall ranking and per-project rankings.
And yes, we did end up doing a poll on this that was voted 14-9 in favour of No, it shouldn't be allowed. There isn't a real way of policing it, it falls into an ethics thing. And for someone like yes, does it really matter? He'd get millions anyway. I could see it being an issue for those members that would barely put up 50K in the 2 days, so they hoard to make it over the hump to get a digital copy of windows 7 or equivalent prize, but again that falls into an ethics thing.

The purpose of the BGB is to improve the team credits. It isn't a battle to see who can put up the most credits (that's just up there for fun).

The moderators told me to ignore your insults and such Llama. But you ignore one thing constantly...

I AM NOT IN IT FOR THE PRIZES AND NEVER WANT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE DRAWINGS

And so the hell what if someone HORDS LIKE HELL and doesn't care about the PRIZES!!!

DON'T YOU FRIGGIN GET IT? WE ARE DOING THE FRIGGING POINTS BOOST!!! That is part of the stated GOAL of BGB!

YOU FRIGGIN DON'T LIKE THAT? TUFF!!!!

WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM!!!! WHY DO YOU CONSTANTLY CALL PEOPLE NAMES AND INJECT Ad hominem & abusive attacks against folks?

Llama, it's time for you to grow up, get a grip on the facts stated above.

Why don't you just say, "Tex1954, please leave the team, we don't want your participation, especially in BGB because you are a stinking point horder!"

Go on Llama drama!! Say what you really feel..
