Board for i7 2600k (ordering tonight)

Thread Starter
Hey guys.

I just came into some money and I am going to be buying the i7 2600k processor tonight. I just need to know what motherboard to get. Requirements are:

*ATX form factor
*Crossfire support is a must (x8/x8)
*Can get a decent overclock (4.6GHz?)
*Under £150 (cheaper the better )

I have read the sticky in the main motherboard section but it doesn't really help. I have been looking at this board but in the sticky it doesn't really have much to go on except it being x8/x8 Crossfire.

I can also go for this but it says in the sticky that it has low VRM. Is that bad? Is this a good choice if the VRM is not an issue?

I hope for some quick replies so I can order tonight

MSI has decent stuff for sure but for rock solid stability when overclocking, look no further than Asus products. I've had great success with Asus products over the years and my current P8P67 Pro continues the tradition. Gigabyte is supposed to be very good as well but I have no experience with their mobo's. My P8P67 Pro was only 180 bux when I first bought it and it can do almost everything a $300 mobo can do.

The Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 is my vote. I should be getting mine next month. But it's £160 atm.

Or you could get the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P for £130 odd.

The ASRock Extreme6 is great as far as features and VRMs, but it's out of stock on this site right now.

In comparison to the MSI GD65 it has 3x the VRMs (18 vs 6).

If anything, that is testament to it's incredible features for the price.

(No motherboard matches it with VRM/features for the price)

I've never seen anyone who couldn't get atleast 4.8 on this board unless they had a terrible chip.

Also see this and check out the MSI in comparison to the ASRock:

Also a great board, a few less VRMs than the Extreme6, but can easily hold 4.8 with a good chip.
