Is 27 inches to big for gaming and 1080p?

Thread Starter
Just wondering what you guys out there who already had 27 inch or bigger monitors thought.

Is 27 inches too big for the resolution?

Is there too much real estate to pay attention to everything going on?

For reference i sit 2 feet from my monitor at eye level.

Help me decide 23 or 27!
thoughts?

not at all... +1 for 27

2 feet? Seriously, if that's true, back up dude. But I believe that bigger is better when it comes to monitors.

You are about to catch alot of flack, as will I for this post. But I believe that 27" is the cutoff point for 1080p resolution, for monitors at least.. I have a 27" samsung, And sit 2 ft from it. The pixel density if fine for me.. Also the viewing angle is pretty damn awesome for a TN panel monitor.. my two cents..

What are you used to? That's mostly what it depends on. Give us your current monitor size and resolution (I see one in your sig but we can't be sure), and we can tell ya if the low pixel density would bother you most likely or not.

27" is a bit big when sitting two feet away from the monitor. Personally for 1080p gaming I would go for 23" monitors, but that's just me.

For 27" monitors I would think you could play at a bigger resolution (2560x1440). Just my two cents

It would not be too big but you would be better off trying to go a higher resolution then 1080p if you are that close. I'm assuming you're wanting/trying to use a 27" 1080p tv as a monitor, I used a 32" 1080p TV as a monitor for about 2 years (back when 1080p was near top resolution for monitors too) and it worked out just fine for me, but if it were me now I'd go for the higher resolution now

I'd never go higher then 32" with a pc monitor unless it's for a HTPC
