I updated my first reply with the red and black settings. I think it's a little bit clearer now, especially for those who might be like "What is TwoCables smoking?"

You can use all of those red settings, but take note of the exceptions I mentioned. Seriously: if you want 4.8GHz, then copy all of my settings except use Auto for VCCSA and VCCIO.

However leave the multiplier at 33 after copying my settings, and leave the CPU Offset Voltage at +0.005V. Then load Windows, open Core Temp, and tell me what it says your VID is.

Whatever that VID is, you can bet that whatever CPU Offset Voltage you use will be added to that. For example: my VID is 1.3511 to 1.3611V (it flip-flops in Core Temp). When I have full load on my CPU, I see a fluctuation of 1.392V to 1.400V in CPU-Z. Now, add 0.040V to 1.3511V and 1.3611V. What do you get? Yeah, 1.3911V and 1.4011V.

So then you'd try to get a multiplier of 48 to work by experimenting with different CPU Offset Voltages.

Look at each red setting. With the exception of the memory speed, timings and voltage, what settings do you think would end up being different for him if he wanted 4.8GHz? He can even use Auto for VCCSA and VCCIO.
But I still don't agree on some red settings, though.
Considering he has never done OC before, he should learn as he go.
That is kind of only way for him to learn and use the knowledge for the future use.

He should not start his 1st OC with OC ram along with it.
He should use manual vcore first. Since off-set, there are more chance that he's gonna run into some problem.

What? I am not recommending that he overclock his memory with it. Review my first reply to this thread, please.

Regarding offset: I already taught him that when he's using an LLC of Ultra High, he can just calculate what his actual voltage will be by adding his CPU Offset Voltage to the VID shown in Core Temp. For example: my VID is 1.3511 to 1.3611 (yes, it flip-flops). My CPU Offset Voltage is 0.040V. Now, add 0.04 to 1.3511 and then add it to 1.3611. CPU-Z says my full load voltage is anywhere from 1.384, 1.392 to 1.400V. So that means I have a little bit of vDroop down to 1.384V. 0.04 + 1.3511 is 1.3911, and 0.04 + 1.3611 is 1.4011. 1.3911 comes out to 1.392V in CPU-Z, and 1.4011 comes out to 1.400V in CPU-Z.

With an LLC of just "High", the math is not quite so simple. With an LLC of Extreme, the math is again not that simple. With Ultra High, it's not bad.

Besides, 99% of those settings are recommended to everyone by Juan Jose who is the Senior Technical Marketing Specialist at ASUS:

So really, I'm not ruining his experience. Instead, I am showing him why people are saying that Sandy Bridge overclocking is a piece of cake.

OK got it. I didn't see the "put your timings manually" part.
I hope it's not too complicated for first time OCer.

Also, did you use your memory's speed, your memory's timings, and your memory's voltage?

That's what I meant by going for the easiest possible way first.
But anyway, make sure you put them all correctly.
If all right and still doesn't work, use manual voltage and start from 1.325v or bit more and work your way down (or up).
Make sure your RAM is set to stock value and voltage.
