Is EA ruining the PC gaming market, or helping? - Page 3

Heh. As if Windows and its softwares weren't bloated enough already...
EA wants to be a major leader in the industry, but they do devote time and effort for thier PC games hence BF3, so they work hard to make our experience better on PC and I am fine with any company that does that.

BF3 for PC has a very impressive list of things the console versions don't have but we all already know this.

I'd like to see a digital distribution service that doesn't require you to run their program to run another program that you paid for.

What happens when Steam goes the way of the Amiga?

"You can only buy a BMW from a BMW DEALER!? that's total bullcrap! I went to 'AutoCars' to buy my Mercedes and Audi before, and they had BMWs... why don't they sell BMWs now?!? that's total bull! I don't want more dealers selling their own stuff! I'll stop buying BMWs now!"

I think EA is really helping the case for PC gaming or at least acknowledges that there is growth potential in PC gaming. Making a high priority of online content distribution requires a lot of resources and a forecast that indicates a high profitability for PC gaming. I honestly see no reason to hate on EA for pushing the PC market.

AFAIK, so far, Origin doesn't require it running to play your game...
it still requires an initial authentication and when downloading it however...

and patches can be downloaded through other means, don't have to use Origin

Honestly, Origin is fine, maybe even better than Steam. I have no problem with it whatsoever.

If that's the case then I'm all for what they are doing. Hopefully, Steam will follow their lead. I have no problem authenticating ONCE when I buy and dl the game.

i think they are trying to nose in on the online direct2drive pc gamer market...
it may or may not last... only time will tell

I don't like the way EA wont share their toys. I also hate the way that all their deals seem to be US only! Like the $4.99 for battlefield games. Not happy with them at all. Plus the fact I have spent around 20 hours on the phone to them as battlefield 2 username and BC2 usernames use different ddatabases so did not get veteran automatically and they had to manually match them up. On the upside I got Dead space 2 for free for complaining
