Overclocking & Choosing RAM for Socket 1155 - Page 46

You never know which ICs you are going to get on Kingston valuerams (they switch almost daily) so overclocking results may vary.
In most cases though, doing 800MHz with is not a major problem.

im running a mushkin kit, rated at 2000 9-9-9-241.65v default. Im trying to push it to 2133. i cant get it stable at anything less than 11-11-11-32 on 1.65v, Is it safe to boost the RAM voltage past 1.65v for 24/7 useage? im not at home, so i cant check the current voltage, but its somthing around 1.675v currently stable. I fear my chip might be degrading since i was running it at close to 1.48vcore under load, (damn VID).

I'm currently piecing together my new build for an intel 4670k and the last thing I have to choose is which ram is appropriate for overclocking the rig. I currently have leftover DDR3 1333 ram from my last desktop (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231189) but I dont know if that ram will be acceptable to use for my new rig.

I've heard that going for higher speeds with the ram will actually limit the overclock on the processor? As such, should I end up getting 1600mhz or 2133mhz ram? Or is the ram I currently have fine to use?

Welcome to OCN.
I'm not believing the higher freqs won't let you run higher RAM.
or higher RAM freq will limit overclock..

It seems that's the case with Haswell, higher frequencies limit RAM overclocking and vice versa.
