Overclocking & Choosing RAM for Socket 1155 - Page 8

Gaming. I only bench to see were I'm at, and leave things alone until something breaks... Lol

That ripjawX looks cool, only because it's blue, so it'll match my asus board.

They're really all the same price really (within 5-20 bucks) so I do t really care...

So the ripjawX CL8 (blue one) should be gtg? Looks like I could bring that to 1866 no problem.

I'm asking the guru (you, lol) if I should do the sniper of the ripjawX. That review you linked says the sniper is pretty unstable when OC'd though

The blue ripjaws CL8 are pretty good for both, everyday usage and benching, they are at 1.5v whereas the sniper is at only 1.25v, I would say the potential to overclock is higher with the sniper because of the voltage. The sniper could probably do what the ripjawX does with a voltage bump to 1.35/1.4v.

Any RAM will get unstable depends on how far you push them and how well they react to high voltage. That is only one review, google it my friend and im sure you'll find plenty of people with much more success.

My vote goes to the 8GB Sniper at only 1.25v Only a guess but, with the sniper you could probably get to around 2133mhz with 9-10-9-27 or maybe even 8-10-8-25, just depends on high you go on the voltage and how well the kits responds.

Guru??? wow thanks bud

Well the 1866 is only 5 more bucks for the sniper (vs the 1600). Might as well go for that I guess. Right?

I'm on my iPad, so hard to link, (and on the road at work) but I just looked via new egg app, and it's 64.99 for 1600 and 69.99 for 1866. Free shipping

Blue ripjaws X 1866 is 69.99 too

Have a look

Thanks bud

We need some of the expertise of the hardcore bencher's

Bass has been providing me with some valuable info regarding RAM and hopefully I'll take those things on board and create a 'better' section for bencher's when it comes to choosing the best RAM for benching and overclocking.

Appreciate it
