Which fan should i add to a hyper 212+?

Thread Starter
Well I've never had experience with aftermarket air coolers before and am wondering what fan should I add to a hyper 212+ for effective push/pull configuration? The hyper 212+ seems to be a great performer for the price and I'm wondering if adding another fan will make it better and which one, newegg links please

You could add another fan that it comes with for about 10 bucks. Get some more airflow through there!

Adding additional fan will give you -1-2C. Also I recommend to get the fan that comes with the hyper 212+ which is the blademaster. I have 212+ p/p with CM blademasters

You can look at the dBA rating (noise level) and compare it to other fans.

And then compare the CFM rating (volumetric flow).

Try not to focus on the maximum ratings because you won't be running at those speeds unless you're really OCD and paranoid about temps. I run my fans at minimum RPM and use Speedfan for custom fan RPM profiles. They don't get up in high RPM, temps stay within good range, and basically I get a balance of cooling and noise.

At some point around 80%, fans will start to make a lot of noise. If you put your fan on 50% and compare it to 100% youll notice it just sounds different, while also louder of course. The extra noise is mechanical vibration (ie not the sound of airflow) from hitting the natural frequency.

Combining the high noise cost with the low thermal benefit of running a fan at 70% vs 100%, it usually is not "worth it" to run your fan at max speed. I would encourage you to test 70% vs 100% in terms of noise and cooling benefit.

However, I think you'll like 2 fans better. In fact the whole paragraph above is why I got 2 fans for push pull - to avoid that mechanical vibration in daily use for games or whatever (of course in stress testing I run everything max to keep temps down). Mine ramps up a LOT slower and basically I get quieter cooling.
