High Latency/Ping

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I've been having a problem for about 3 months now and I am still finding some solutions in the internet, but as of now I decided to make a thread of my own.

Ok so this is my problem

My ping on normal is only 32ms but when someone downloads, check pictures, watch youtube videos my ping goes up to 1000-2000ms. This problem only happened when my ISP changed our facility from legacy to NGN (nextgen network) They changed it to fiber optics. And my internet changed from ADSL to ADSL_2 but my splitter that they gave me tells me it's only ADSL.

Is there a way for me to fix this?? If you guys need the settings on my modem or router just tell me and I'd be glad to give it to you.

I've tried

Calling my ISP

Changing my MTU from 1500 to something lower

A bunch of changes in my NIC settings

Changing the cable

Checking the phone line if it's broken.

Ok so maybe I wasn't on ADSL_2 (I'm pretty sure I'm on adsl 2 because I just checked the settings on my modem last week) It changed to ADSL_G (probably because my splitter isn't ADSL_2

And If you guys Can detect any errors please tell

I'm going to start off this by telling you that I am no expert, and everything I have to say is said with the best intentions.

Lets start off with the simple stuff:
1.Reset the modem, router
2.Dedicate the internet to just one computer through a direct wired connection and see if your problem persists

Most of my internet problems are router/modem related.

Already did those two

When I direct connect my pc the ping increase goes from 600-200ms to 300-1000ms

So everytime I use the router it will double the ping.

And yea I've already tried resetting my modem and router.

Ok then, I do believe that your problem is either with the ISP itself, or your NIC. Which do you think it is?

Well It couldn't be my NIC because I have 4 pc's to test here and tried all of them at direct connect, same results.

I contacted my ISP and they got mad at me for calling them about 20 times a week. And the only thing they could do there is to turn off my net.

They are going to have to man up and figure out this issue, you have clearly exhausted all the other options. Calling them and not even getting a service call is absurd.

You get a +1

Yea.. I'll call them tomorrow. But it will probably take them a week for them to get here..(since they only prioritize higher paying customers , the ones with higher plans, I get left out) But till then if there is anything I could do to fix this please tell.
