Is that under a load? Like running prime95 or Intel burn? I see 44c was your max core temp, which is what I rely on. If so, I am not too familiar with that cooler except that it is good for the value. I just know running at 4.2 and 1.46ish volts that I don't go above 49 under full load, adn never above 43 while gaming. Around 33 when browsing the web. Granted my cooler is a little better, it still seems a little high for me unless you were running prime or something. If you were running one of those benchmarks then I think your temp is fine. 62c is max. Amd hasn't stated whether it is core temp or "cpu" temp but I would bet my soul it is core temp. My "cpu" temp goes over 64 all the time. But that temp is measured at the socket by the mobo. not the cpu.

That seems like a perfectly fine temp to me. Like I said I don't pay attention to cpu temp, but rather core temp. And 44c max core temp is pretty good I think.

I use CoreTemp which should be accurate as it reads the temp from the CPU itself.

This AMD page says the max temp should be 62C for that chip:

http://products.amd.com/en-us/Deskto...f10=&f11=&f12=

My chip for instance is a 95w x4 and it is rated for a max of 70C.

Mine has gotten as hot as 59C while doing Prime95 to test stability.

You generally want to give yourself around 15-20C headroom from the TJmax for your particular chip. Obviously the better cooling you have, the less problem you will have since you would be running way under the absolute max the chip can operate at.

because my room is 22 C. and the core temps are 24 C at idle. How is that possible?

CoreTemp give me the same temps as the core temps on cpuid

Maybe you have amazing airflow and a great cooler? I think it's in the realm of possibility. If it were reversed (lower core temp than ambient temp), then I'd be worried if something were off.

Core temps "become accurate" around 45'C. Below that they are off.
CPU temp is like a mobo/vrm temp, since the sensor is located on the mobo, under the CPU

Yea, just sitting there below ( I had heard around 40c for AMD cpus but that could just be internet speculation) a certain temp, that it is not accurate. All I can say is that I think the temps are just fine, and not to worry.
