Best card for Battlefield 3? - Page 3

I would think a GTX 470 would play BF3 at or near max settings and can be had for cheap used.

Anyways, obviously the game hasn't come out yet but you can never go wrong with a GTX 580 (probably biased)

I don't know when the new ATI cards are coming out...soon i thought??? If so wait for those.
But I do have to see countless of these threads on the news feed. I'm aware I don't have to click on the thread, but I thought for a second "Hey if I get my point across in a positive manner, this person and everyone looking at this thread won't go around posting threads that aren't needed"

I guess I wasn't completely clear... I know the EXACT requirements are not yet released, at least benchmark-wise. Idk. I was just hoping what people were thinking after playing the Alpha. I know that it isn't the finished game at all, but was a 460 enough? *shrug* sorry for the thread I guess...
Don't apologise mate, the forums are for questions, if the haters have a problem, they can clearly see the title and just not enter the thread.

You weren't asking the best card EVAH!!!! for BF3, 'cos any top-end card that you can afford fits that bill, recommended requirements for BF3 have been stated as a 460 or 6850, so you can guarantee you'll at least get playable rates with those cards on high settings (dependant on resolution and server size).

For the price of a 460 or 560Ti right now, the 460 is the better option until the 560Ti drops in price more, so you may aswell rule them out, unless that's the range you're looking for.

You could even SLI 460's for a great price, however it's really best to wait closer to the time, there's great hype over the game, sellers will want to make sales around it's release, aswell as with the release of BD, so you can expect some decent price drops for those upgrading their rigs in the upcoming months.

Like it's been said, though it's good to plan ahead, Alpha's and BETA's aren't the final game release, you can get a good guess, but you're better off waiting closer to release to get a really good idea.

It's also apparent that Radeon's are pulling ahead of nVidia cards in the Alpha, so wait for any bugs to be worked out and rectifications before buying.

The system requirements are up, so just base off that as your minimum, and set a realistic budged for yourself, then go from there.

Me personally, I wanted a 560Ti for BF3's release, but I may just go with SLI 460's, or I may wait for a good price drop and chose afterwards.

It's over with. They said the game wasn't even fully optimized yet, so there's no way to tell.

Iv played the alpha beta invite to Bf3...and my system could not run it on 1920x1200 with full detail...i had to turn down the resolution and graphics detail on my sigg rigg...

due to this experience of testing the game...I would think these gpus should work nice... evga 580 or 580 sli would be nice ...or a radeon 6970 or crossfire 6970s or....a amd 6990...all those setups should have substantial power to run this game smoothly ..

My 460 runs BFBC2 on Oasis with everything except AA/AF maxed @ 1920x1080 at about 60-80 FPS in a full 32 man server. I'm afraid to see how brutal BF3 will be on my poor GPU.

I would wait for the game to be released and for some benchmarks to show up.

Edit: I found a benchmark with a GTX 275 in it.

I have your card, but at stock 720 clock. I run 8xcsaa/16xaf in dx11 with med shadows all else high and no hbao and i get 60-80. You should crank it up, probably isnt being used 99%. I also play at 1080p

Stop basing your assumptions off the Alpha. It didn't have DX11.

Hey OP, if you're looking for the cheapest sol'n, think of a GTX460 SLI which you can get for $100 or less if you find a good deal. Two GTX460's is about comparable to a GTX 580 (albeit, they'll run warmer and take up more slots) for less than 50% of the price. I believe a GTX 560 Ti is ~$200 if you find a good deal, so I hedge my vote for the GTX460 SLI.
6990 or 6970 should do DX11 fine. 580 got me both my cards 3 months ago(more than that now D:, This year is flying by). Probably can get open box deals for like 400 total.

When I played the Alpha I got 100+ fps I might have seen 200-300 if im not wrong. But a 6950-6970 would be enough for 60+ fps.
