Are 6950s still bios unlockable? Or have AMD fixed it.

I'm thinking of finally getting a new graphics card. Want to get a 6950 and bios unlock it but not sure if it still works... I know if its a reference card it will still work but im not sure if AMD have fixed the problem yet.

I am in australia and will be buying it from PCDIY, 2GB powercolor 6950 for 269.

If you can find the 6950 2GB PCS ++ from powercolor those come with the dual bios of a 6950/6970 clocks unlocked.

If you could get the serial numbers from the source that would be a big help as well since certain reference cards can still be unlocked.

Do you happen to know which ones exactly? There are a lot to choose from and I bought a HD6950 that can't be BIOS flashed. Grr...

But seriously though, which reference models still have the unlockable shaders and/or secondary BIOS switch?

I would say anyone that does not have a custom pcb or a aftermarket cooler, am pretty sure u can unlock, your best bet is though to find one with a stock pcb.
then serch it online you will find your answer right away.

After some hardcore searching and whatnot, I came across this. http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages...locking,1.html

Thought people might be interested. It can be unlocked and MSi made a BIOS especially for this card? Too good to be true? Nah. They cut your warranty, obviously. We all know that. But still. I'll always have my dirt 3 edition on backup. If what is described in this article is true (and it does look like it). This seems to be a supreme card to flash.

Just thought this'd be nice information.
