2500k WOW PC

Thread Starter
Hi,

I am new to posting on the forums but I have been reading them for a while. I would like to build a gaming pc to handle WOW at ultra settings while frapsing and streaming video. I have a budget of about 1300 dollars. I need an os, monitor, keyboard, mouse and DVD drive. The system will be purchased in about 3 to 4 weeks. Any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Everything will be bought from Newegg.com

The Hardware i am pretty set on getting are
2500k
Asus P8P67 of some sort
Windows 7

Thanks for any help

For Windows 7, I highly recommend Home Premium x64.

So, do you have a video card and a power supply? If so, then which card and which power supply?

i'm sure you could "source" a OS somewhere for a incredibly low price if you know what i mean, so that should free up quite a bit of money

I would recommend getting a GTX 580 (single for now, SLI later down the road), as it's the most powerful single card out there at the moment. As for a PSU a quality 850W unit (like the AX850 I have in my system) will "future proof" you to some extent (at least in terms of getting another GTX 580). The motherboard, the P8P67 Pro seems to be the most solid of the P8P67 series (from what I've read at least...but just to let you know my experiences with the board have been nothing but great!), so I would recommend that. For the rest...

Hard Drive: OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS 120GB, 2x RAID0 Samsung F3 1TB, 1x WD Caviar Green 2TB (the SSD for OS and core programs, F3s for your games and dumping your videos, and Caviar Green for backup and other files, etc.)
Sound Card: Onboard (or depending on your needs, something else)
Case: Personal Preference
CPU cooling: Corsair H100 (or custom WC)
Monitor: Personal Preference

Yeah...you can fit a GTX 580 quite easily in a $1300 budget. I've seen it done in a $1200 rig, which brings me to another question. Do you mind buying used of the marketplace? If so then you can find a GTX 580 for around $400 (less). If not, then scratch the 580 and get a 6970 instead.
