NVIDIA BFG 8800 GTS 512MB Video Card Recognition Problem

Thread Starter
I'm having a strange issue. My video card suddenly stopped being recognized by my computer. In addition, the Nvidia Control Panel no longer exists. I went into my device manager under display adapters and it's able to recognize "NVIDIA GdeFORCE 8800 GTS 512". However, in the properties, it states:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

This seems to indicate either the hardware is dead or there is a driver issue.

So, I decided to just start over and reformat my computer and do a complete fresh install of Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. I then went to the Nvidia website, installed the 8800 GTS 512, 64bit driver. Then after re-starting, it still doesnt seem to recognize my video card. Does this indicate that it is not a driver issue and that my video card may possible be dead? This is frustrating.

My specs are:

Abit IP35 Pro
3GB RAM
Hard Drive: 120 GB Free of 195 GB
Q6600

Tried in a different computer? Tried the card in a different slot? Are you getting any artifacts on the screen?

Could be dead, or could just need to be baked.
