Any bottleneck with 2x 460 and a 965?

Thread Starter
I want to get a 2nd 460 768mb and run sli but I'm wondering if I would get any bottleneck with my AMD 965 C2 @ 3.6GHz. Also, ignore the monitor in my sig I am getting a 1920x1080 soon. Thanks.

Resolution doesn't matter all that much with a CPU bottleneck. The CPU is going to be providing the same instructions at a low res vs. a high one.

But yes, you will be bottlenecked to a degree. Is it worth the upgrade? Sure! I'd definitely go SLI in your setup. You'll only feel a "bottleneck" in CPU intensive games anyway (BFBC2 / GTA IV, Witcher 2, Crysis 1, etc).

Actually a single 460 will play games very well at 1080p.... CrossfireX/SLI is usually best when resolution is very high. I doubt you will need another 460, unless you are a very regular player of Crysis.

I would not SLI 768mb cards at 1080p, no matter what cpu you had.

Sell and upgrade to a single card with a better vram bank imo.
