Problems with GTX 580's in SLI

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

So I posted a relatively similar thread a few weeks ago, but didn't want to resurrect it. So anyways, I've been trying to play wow on my new computer, and it keeps freezing up and crashing. I have zero problems with ANY other games (oblivion, amnesia, crysis 2, dragon age 2, fall out new vegas, etc). But with world of warcraft, constant crashes.

The frustrating thing... I thought I had fixed the problem. I put the cards back to stock clock speeds and all my problems went away, for about 2 weeks. Now, the problem is back and worse.

When the game crashes it does one of two things. All three screens go black, then come back, wow screen (center) is white, and an error message appears saying something about memory at a certain location unable to be read. Other times, my entire computer COMPETELY freezes up, artifacting on the left screen (only left screen) and I usually have to force shut down.

If you guys have any suggestions I'd love you...

Thanks,
GA

Have you tried running it on one screen only for testing purposes?

And would that only show on ONE game? Doesn't make a ton of sense to me..

Thanks though,

As in disable SLI or simply run at the resolution of one of my 3 screens and window it? Because the latter is what I usually do for WoW, I haven't tried playing while disable SLI because honestly its a huge hassle..

Cheers,
GA

Disable Nvidia Surround and just for the heck of it, disco the other two monitors and just run one. You should keep sli enabled. I'm suspect this game is not liking something. Can you play Crysis in Surround? If yes, I think your cards are fine

Yea, I'm playing all of those aforementioned games on surround and they look beautiful if I do say so myself . Perhaps I'll give that a go... what does that prove though if it fixes it? I would die if I had to do that every time I play wow...

I've had a few games do some strange things while in Surround/Eyfinity and reinstalling them usually fixed them. Wow is not a demanding game as crysis so it would be contrary for your cards to fail on a weaker application as opposed to a more demanding one. Also running latest updates and drivers?

I'll have to check on my drivers, but I'm pretty sure that I am.. Yeah, it didn't make a ton of sense to me either. Especially after running fine for about 2 weeks. Perhaps its a corrupted DLL? The "memory could not be read" error sounds like a registry issue... Maybe a good and proper reinstall would solve some problems.. Nothing like reinstalling a 24gb game XD.

Thanks mate, I'll let you know on the drivers!
