Got my new parts!

post #1 of 21
Thread Starter
I finally went to microcenter and got my new parts. Got a new mobo, some more ram and a new CPU cooler. Anything I should know before I put everything together?

GA-MA78LMT-S2--->GA-990FXA-UD3
4gb ddr3 1333--->8gb ddr3 1333
stock cooler--->CM Hyper 212+

should be putting everything together tonight

That you should have gone with 1600mhz memory instead? Otherwise I'm sure everything should be fine, motherboard and cooler will be a nice little upgrade and allow for a decent o/c. Make sure to get another 5770 to utilize that board for some CF action!

Congratz! Now get overclocking! And make sure that Northbridge is around 2800+ for that big performance boost

Forgot to mention that I do have another 5770. Got it off a friend for $25 when he got his 69** and only reason I got 1333 ram was because I already had 4gb and it was only $25 got another 4gb.

is your 955 a rev c2 or c3?
c2 will only allow 4 dimms to run at 1333
c3 will allow them to go faster

microcenter has some 2x4g 1600 kits for $80/50ar
http://www.microcenter.com/search/se...22+4294957208&
or from newegg for $60/40ar
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220570

or if you can get by with 4g, 2x2g kits are closer to $30

then sell your old ram = profit

Check out a program called CPU-Z, it will show your CPU's Information + if it's a C2 or C3
