Help with first build. $600>

Thread Starter
I am looking to build my first computer. I am limited on cash, about $600, give or take a little bit. Also, My parents have agreed to pay for half of the most expensive part of the build. I am looking to use the computer for gaming and plan on upgrading it later on when I have to money.

So how much money are you dealing with total? Around $900 considering parents financial assistance?

^ I'm not a fan of the build above at all. No overclockability, single channel memory, and beyond the $600 budget this person says.

His parents will pay for half of the MOST EXPENSIVE part only.

$600 gives you plenty... do you need monitor/keyboard/mouse? OS?

CPU:

$115 (Often on sale for less, but not right now)

Mobo: ASRock 970 EXTREME4 AM3+ $113 Shipped. $103 after MIR, Shipped.

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaw X $35

PSU: Antec High Current Gamer Series 620W $70, $50 after MIR.

Case: $50

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB $55

CD/DVD: Samsung CD/DVD $19

GPU: XFX 6850 $160, $130 after MIR.

Monitor: Asus VE228H 21.5" Full H $155. $145 after MIR. I can attest to this monitor being aweomse, as I use it.

$772 702 after MIR(s).

- after parents paying half the monitor & rebates = $625

Added good Crossfire board and a generous wattage PSU so you can be ready for a 2nd 6850 whenever you want. Would have added the $35 Samsung F3 500GB if it was in stock instead.

You can always get a for $36 if you want to save a little more cashmoney.

You can roll with the stock cooler for the time being or just get a for $26.

I don't need an OS, and I do need a monitor. Keyboard and mouse would be nice, but aren't a necessity.
