ASUS P7P55D-E Pro and OCZ Agility 3 SSD - Page 2

Sounds like an issue with the SSD. I have an Agility 2 on my P7P55D-E Pro with zero issues.

Did you try it with the intel sata instead just to make sure?

Right now I took it back to where I bought it so they could tell me whether it's an issue with the SSD or something else. Just want to see what else I can try once I get the drive back.

Just to make sure I understand it clearly:

Intel® P55 Express Chipset built-in
6 xSATA 3.0 Gb/s ports
Intel Matrix Storage Technology Support RAID 0,1,5,10

JMicron® JMB363 PATA and SATA controller
1 xUltraDMA 133/100/66 for up to 2 PATA devices
1 xExternal SATA 3Gb/s port
1 xSATA 3Gb/s port (black)
Marvell® PCIe SATA6Gb/s controller:*
- 2 x SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports (Gray)
* These SATA ports are for data hard drives only. ATAPI devices are not supported.

By "Intel Sata" you mean the ones in bold, right?. If so then yeah, tried those too.

Intel ports: get a BSoD anywhere from 2 minutes to 3 hours after boot (most of the time within the first 5 minutes).
Marvell ports: Freezes without any error message whithin the first 30/40 minutes.

Seems a lot of people have issues with the OCZ Vertex/Agility 3 SSDs. Seems firmware issues are to blame from what most are saying. May want to try another brand if it doesn't work out.

Yeah, a lot of people are having similar issues but most of them can get it to work one way or another or at the very least have 1 BSoD every few days instead of one every two or three minutes.

I called the place where I bought it and they say they ran into the same problems with the drive so are gonna exchange it. Since I have to wait because they don't have any more available I'll see if I can ask for a different brand or something... if not I'll just hope to get better luck xD.

Thanks everyone!.

Well, from what I see, to get 6Gb/s, you need to use the Marvell controller ports. I have never used it, but most seem to hate the Marvell controllers and use Intel SATA instead. On my P7P55D-E Pro, I have an Agility 2 SSD and it scores 7.7 in WEI, but on my GA-X58A-UD7 mobo, with the same model SSD, I get a 7.8 WEI score. Only the P67 and later chipsets have native 6Gb/s support via Intel, which is the only controller I use.

Got a new drive yesterday and I think it's working now. Plugged it into a SATA2 (will try using a SATA3 one tonight) and it's been going for 12 hours without any freezing/BSoD/reboot. Think the write/read speed is a bit slow but don't really know what are normal/fast/slow values.

Thanks for all the help guys.
