Hey guys, ive got a joice between a gtx 580 dcII and a gtx 580 3gb phantom for the same price, I dont game in higher then 1080p and my main priority is which one will oc better and can I water cool either of them? Im only gone use the card till southern islands come out. I know lightning would be better but thats the 2 I have to choose from (getting brand new one for 400$)

I would suggest the 3gb since it will help with later games. However I am almost positive that both are non reference so getting a water block for them will be difficult if not impossible.

The dcII will run cooler though.

Well in that case get the phantom for sure. It will have a higher resale value because it is 3gb.

EK makes a waterblock for the Gainward and Palit 3GB cards (EK-FC5X0 GTX GW) but I don't know of any for the Asus card.

If you can get them both at same price go for the Phantom since it has more memory. The cooler is not far from DCII, mine runs around 70c under load.

at what clocks and fan %? would you say a 590 is worth an extra 150$? how does it oc compared to the 580?
I would not get the 590. Some people stand by it here but I know that Nvidia dropped the ball on the power design and in my opinion it's not worth it. The 580 is more than enough and why pay more when you are going to upgrade soon.....

If you want to donate a card, let me know .

But ya a 580 will last a while. It's the most powerful card right now (single).
