How good is/was FO:NV? - Page 2

As soon as the tutorial started and I realised how to aim and shoot and understood the gun physics a bit, I shot the woman who trains us in the face and roamed around for a bit.
I then got bored of the scenery and uninstalled.

Rumor has it there will be no GOTY edition. There will also be no changes to the default endings a la Broken Steel from FO3. Which sucks as I hated the ending choices.

You either are a pawn for the:

-Cheerily Evil Robot wanting to control the world
or
-Government Bureaucracy bent on controlling the world
or
-Howard Hughes Plugged into a Computer wanting to control the world
or
-World enslaving tribal dictator wanting to control the world

Not that much variety is there?

I liked FO3 MUCH better than NV. I felt a lot more depth and also liked how much more there was to explore. Every corner i took in FO3 there was always something new.

NV however felt very... bland. Wandering in the wilderness got very old quick. i felt like i would walk from one location to the other JUST to get a fast travel icon. New guns were a nice touch though. and i would also agree with the endings not being very different from one another.

Didn't enjoy it, it just misses a lot of key elements.

Oblivion with the graphics mods absolutely destroys this game, and then stomps a hole in it just to be sure.

For $10 I'd say its worth it. Fallout 3 is better I have to admit. But for the time i've invested in it, when I paid full price; I'd say you definitely get your money's worth for $10 easily.

I stayed up a couple of nights recently just roaming the map doing everything but the main story. I just couldn't stop playing it once I got on.
For $25 and you get all the dlc + main game I wouldn't think twice.

I really don't know why so many people didn't like it or claim it is terribly boring. I played all the way through both FO3 and NV. I'd say that NV was just as good if not better. It has an interesting and fun storyline. The combat also felt more like a FPS and less RPG-like with the addition of the ability to aim down the sight for any gun.

I think it is about as good as Fallout 3. Both games have their pros and cons. NV balanced stats and skills a lot better (except weapons; rifles dominate everything), a slightly better musical score (imo), has a higher density of locations, the ability to aim down the sights, and a more customizable story among other things (I haven't played for several months). FO3 had, imo, a much better location and level design, rewarded explorers better (NV has more locations, but I kept finding myself going to a shack or something and there being nothing inside! therefore, not as rewarding), awesome DLC, and had energy weapons that didn't suck majorly.
