My friend wants to sell his old computer so he can custom build a new one.

This is what he has right now:

Case: Stock Dell case
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @2.30GHZ Dual Core Processor
Ram: 3GB DDR2
HDD: 160GB Sata II
GPU: Geoforce 8500GT
DVD: TOSHIBA DVD Reader/Writer
Mobo: Dell Inspiron 531. Dell Branded Board, no overclocking.
PSU: Stock 300W

What's a reasonable price to sell this for?

*craigslist price. I had a system of similar specs, except it had 4gb ram and a 9600gso, and athlon ii x2, which I sold for 240 a couple months back.

even 9600gt is crap, but 8500gt is worse than CPU integrated graphic.
You should be happy with 150$, as even Android phone is better performer.

Not true. Period. 9600gso are rebranded 8800gs's which have 96 stream processors. They put out good numbers in f@h, almost as much as a 8800gt. 8500gt is one step up from integrated, but definitely not worse.

$175 at best, things move fast in the PC world, hence why I upgrade every second year, while resale value is still reasonable.
