Best 80mm fan

Thread Starter
Hi guys, i have the Coolermaster CM 690 ii Advanced case here, it as the GFX bracket and can mount a 80mm fan to it, should i do this? Think it will be needed?

I dont have the PC yet, just a case as i will buy the hardware later on when i have the cash lol.

What is the best quiet 80mm fan IF i should use 1 to help cool the GFX card? I don't need 1 at 1200rpm or whatever even just a low 1 just to help? Or is this just pointless lol.

Honestly the bracket works better as a GPU support. If you have 120mm/140mm fans mounted on side would help more IMO. Plus it will be quieter and flow lots more air then almost any 80mm fan.

Cheers mate. Well am going to get the Window panel for the case which holds a 120mm fan. I just figured wont this be louder than a small 80mm to help on the bracket?

Unless i find a perfectly quiet 120mm 1?

Maybe the Sharkoon Silent Eagle SE Modular 120mm Fan?

Love the sound of this fan, modular with 4 difference volt leads to make it 7v, 9v, 12v normal, 12v quite. Could be worth a try.

^^ This...just save up for a decent fan controller to control the speed and a 140mm fan , the fan controller will be a good investment if you decide to add more fans

Never used a controller, would you just plug all the 3pin fans into the back of it and do it that way instead of into the motherboard?

What if the fan is a 4pin molex? Would the controller use a 4 pin molex to 3pin?

I hope i make sense its confusing lol.

I'd get a fan controller and coolermaster sickleflow fans, I don't own them myself but they did very well in this fan comparison and are just over a fiver per fan on scan. They're a bit flashy for my taste though.

If you're spending that much on fans you could also consider the gentle typhoons on scan.co.uk (£12-13) as they're very popular here on OCN and others will vouch for them, I linked the 1850 RPM ones though so you'd need a fan controller with them if silence is your goal.

I'd have given you OCUK links but they don't stock the CM fans or the gentle typhoons.

Yes... just plug and adjust the settings. You have to plug the controller to a molex connection tho.

All fans AFAIK use either a 3pin or 4pin fan connector to a header. Fans might/will come with a 3/4pin header to molex connectors...unless you buy from a store that sells electronics equipment and they usually don't have those connectors and are just bare coloured wires...

Nice, So what about this?

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/neste...fan-controller

Control upto 8 fans and can set 4 at once with 1 push. Set fans from 6v-12v.
