If you're wondering why your performance/usage/scaling in BL2 isn't all that great, here is why.

Borderlands 2 is actually HEAVILY CPU-dependent. Almost as much as Skyrim was when it first came out, before Bethesda got the proper optimizations into a patch.

We need the same for BL2.

Yeah I read an article a bit back about CPU usage in BL2, but mine never gets above 70%, and even with PhysX on low, my FPS drops to 30 in some areas (the big hallway of the refinery in the DLC). This is with PhysX on low, and running on a QX9650 @ 4GHz and GTX 580 @ 895 core.

The weird thing is that when I turn around, my FPS shoots to 60 (I play VSync off, but capped at 60FPS), but when I face down the hallway, it plummets to exactly 30. Never 31, never 29, just 30. There's nothing in the hallway that's even moving, and PhysX is on low (since I had to roll-back drivers to 296.10 to get it to stop freezing with PhysX on high). Also, when I turn PhysX to high, my GPU usage actually declines by a large margin. I read somewhere that programs like MSI Afterburner don't take PhysX calculations into account or something. Is that true?

I love this game though. I'm currently plowing through the DLC on TVHM with my 50 Siren, to be able to farm that treasure room before they patch it out. I'm sick of farming for the Infinity pistol (easily 6 hours of my life wasted so far).

I can't believe I've played 35hrs of BL2 in under 2 weeks.

It isn't even my type of game, I prefer linear gaming, rather than open world - but BL2 does it so right, that it's addictive to complete every single mission on the planet lol.

Usually in games like this, i would stick to the story line, and be done with it - as I get bored, but with BL2, there's something inside me that says: "do all the side missions first, and then do the story line" biggrin.gif
