How's the FPS during intense fights? Does it dip or is it unnoticeable?

Yeah it does dip indeed. The amount it dips usually depicts how intense the fights are. I've noticed around 10-20fps drop

I think its the game, not the card(s).

I get dips with 2x7970s & a 650Ti as PhysX into the 20s FPS.

I thought it was the 650, so I swapped it out with a 580....exactly same dips.

Tried it on 2x 580s and the same result.

However, when I had PhysX set to 'low' (without a PhysX card), I never saw those low FPS.

I think the objects when PhysX is set to 'high' are unlimited, you'd have to set it manually to 100k or something like that (depending on your card(s)).

All were tested maxed out on a single 1080p screen.

How bout CPUs? I heard that this game is a real CPU hog even w/out PhysX.

Not sure about that. I think this game can be played on almost any setup.

I recently installed it on the neighbor's computer with a Celeron 860 or something, a 6670 GPU with mid settings on a 720p screen, stayed above 40FPS in the very beginning of the game then I had to leave.

I was expecting it to be a slide show but it was very smooth.

I play this game maxed out with PhysX on Medium (as it's running on my CPU due to having an AMD card) and the game runs smooth as butter.

If I put PhysX on High it suffers though.

I have a 3570k at 4.0ghz and everything maxed on my 660 SC. In intense firefights and some areas It would dip into the 40s. I've never seen it dip below 40 though. Anything above 30 is playable to me.. I don't think you need anything more than a 660 for this game, maxed out at 1080p unless you just want to go crazy with SLI.

I don't really notice a dip at all with my current setup. When I had the low power 9800gt for my physx there was but I upgraded to a 480 for physx and rarely if ever see a dip under 70fps in borderlands 2 just with my 7870 and 975be with everything max. Maybe I am not paying close enough attention? I'll have to keep watch next time I play.

On a side note, are any of you playing Krieg? Me and a friend are doing a duo Krieg playthrough. He is going in the Right tree (fire) and I am doing the center tree (explosion). I find with my build I am in fight for your life more than anything. Get the second wind ~93% of the time but it is a blast (no pun intended)

I agree. I have the game completely maxed (including FOV and SweetFX) on my QX9650 and gtx580, and it stays above 40 at all times. Maybe in the Caustic Caverns it will dip down into the mid 30s, but it's still perfectly playable. I may set the fps cap to 30 actually, just so that I don't notice any dips at all.
