e5300 @ 4ghz worth upgrading? - Page 3

512mb , its still got 12 months warranty which is a bonus for me,
there a few asus, p8x68 , sabertooth, maximums extreme for £145-£150 ($235.996 ) and then the p67 boards for £130 ( $200 ) so only £20 ( $35 ) difference .. so if its worth the extra money i might as well compare a few asus z68's from ebuyer and see whats best although they all look the same! i can't afford a new monitor at this moment in time so I'm stuck with my 1400x900 19in tv, so 1080p won't be happening.

so I've finally got the board sorted ( hopefully ) and thanks for all the help ( + rep'd )
but i am hoping to upgrade the GPU in the future..

yep, read someone else's post on comparing 3 asus boards, i decided on the asus p8pz68 for £148 due to its looks ( don't know why ) and the supposedly decent OC'ing features.
the quad GPU MAY come in handy and ATX seems more expandable.
or the asus maximus gene-v although its only sli/crossfire and matx but ill be deciding at the weekend

hope its the right decision this time!!

But If I were you I'd upgrade to a quad, Q8200 or better.
I recently upgraded from a first generation phenom x3 (similar to e5200 performance) to phenom II and the difference in boot up and game loading times is massive
I thought you had an Athlon X4?

The maximus is nice but I don't like micro atx boards for some reason. It's just a visual thing. I would go with this;

http://www.ebuyer.com/267772-asus-p8...rd-p8z68-v-pro

like you said.

yep, ihave a matx now, i don't like the cosmetics and the fact that its.. well.. small so the p8z68-v it is ( don't see what advantage i'd get with the pro apart from extra esata port, and firewire which are useless to me )
+ as you mentioned before i could sell my cpu and motherboard resulting in a new 1080p monitor or another GPU

now the hardest part.. waiting for the money and the time taken to get them delivered !!

Sounds good. If you don't need SLI than the non-pro is fine. Get a new monitor over a video card; atleast I would (24" - 1920x1200 ).

I say hold off on the monitor and sell your 4870 along with the motherboard and e5300. Then get a monster card like HD6950 or GTX570 and crank up the settings
Crysis 2 or GTA with realistic mod should be the first thing you install after OS!

i diode think of that, i prefer performance over beauty , but may be difficult selling all 3 together, but the 6950 would set me back around at least £175..
and my 4870 does still have 11 months warranty so i gotta ask my self.. is it worth the £175, my hd 4870 handles crysis 2 fine, lacks in gta 4 although my current cpu lacks for gta 4, after selling the e5300, mono and 4870 i'd still have to grab £100 for the 6950, is it worth it?
