Do you intend to SLI/crossfire GPU's at all?

You are sitting right in the middle of PSU classes that might prove wasteful or limiting, but not perfect.

If you intend to SLI or crossfire GTX560ti's or 6950's then 650watts probably wont cut it. If not, then 650 watts is probably overkill and you could save some money.

Good choice on case by the way, that's your best option from that site. Checking motherboards now

MSY has a special on the 2500k right now, saving a BUNCH. Did you know?

No do not intend on SLI/Crossfire without a PSU upgrade.

I was planning on eventually with a better CPU cooler hitting 4.5GHz in turbo mode with the i5 2500k.

I'm not buying all of these parts until early November at the earliest. (probably late November) But I'm looking around this early to ensure I can get the best possible system for the budget. ($710.19) So sales don't interest me right now unless it's on that case which i will be purchasing shortly.

PSU wise if I can drop the PSU down in price while still allowing me to do a 4.5GHz CPU overclock and possibly a minor GPU overclock then I will drop it but I believed that 650 watts would be needed for all this.

If you are going to KEEP a single GPU and your 2500k, with case fans and up to say 5 HDD's, then you would be fine with a 550watt PSU. XFX make some great lower end ones. So do Anted. Be sure to check the voltage on the 12v rails when you start getting into this range.

If you plan on potentially crossfiring, then jump up to 750watts to play it safe. You'll be guaranteed to run overclocked 6950's and an overclocked 2500k with that, and this is probably what you should consider, since it will be an easy upgrade path in future that you should allow yourself.

I know that AMD will tell you that you need something like 850watts for 6950 crossfire, but they're just covering their butts. Google PSU calculator and give yourself a little head room. You'll see

I would also not be too concerned with specifics and prices on these things now for a few reasons:

1) you're purchasing in novermber, prices will change naturally, regardless of new releases
2) Bulldozer is coming out from AMD and WILL change the entire range of prices
3) You might be able to get specials at the time which will change your entire build
4) people on here get annoyed to find out that their hard work finding specific prices for you will be wasted since you're not buying for 3 months. Make that clear up front. I don't mind helping you, but I'd prefer to give you estimates now, and do all the hard work in the week leading up to your purchase, where it all matters. This is all just consumerist masturbation for now ...

Sorry about that.

It's fine, truly don't worry about it with me - I learned the hard way by really annoying someone haha. I was planning for months and months, and I've just sitting up watching TV, nothing better to do anyways. I enjoy the hunt honestly, but I know from experience you might get chewed out for doing it.

I did a PSU calculation and for an overclocked 2500k (4800 @ 1.45v - faily average) with a case with case fans, a DVD drive, an SSD and 2 x HDD's, plus crossfire 6950's and a high-end motherboard you get 570watts power draw. A 650w PSU would probably do it, but to guarantee years of stable use, I would personally aim for 750watts.

The Antec True Power New 750watt is a brilliant PSU, and usually very competitive pricing. Also note that the PSU you chose is not modular - you'll want that if you can afford it, makes cable management a lot easier which has a direct effect on your case's cooling abilities.

How experienced a PC builder are you?

Alrighty then This is going to be fun - you will have a ball. Be sure to listen to the right people on here though, there's a lot of misinformation and fanboyism flying around, but there are some brilliant and extremely helpful people who will guide you towards the best purchase possible for you.

Quick questions: what is your total budget, and do you need monitor and peripherals or is it just for the tower.

Don't be set on the 2500k yet either. The new Bulldozer lineup from AMD is coming out next month, and potentially for the same price you might be able to get an 8-core Bulldozer to overclock. The performance is as yet unknown, but suggested to raise the standings of AMD considerably. Keep an open mind is all I'm saying.

Don't be afraid to PM me for any questions you may have now or in future.

Last suggestion, get looking around youtube for step by step guides on how to build a PC. Watch them all, and learn all the tricks you can; it's a learning process, but it's a logical one, if you can troubleshoot effectively and follow rational steps you'll have no problems.
