Is my pump strong enough to handle it?

I have ( or at least maybe going to have ) a Swiftech MCP655 12 VDC Pump, a quad 120mm rad, 1 cpu block, 2 gtx 580s, and an xspc dual bay reservoir.


Is my pump strong enough to push water to all those components efficiently????

If not can you recomend one that can and the tubing is 1/2

If you can't is it possible to run 2 pumps in a 1 loop situation?


PS: My case is a silverstone tj07 so the pump is going to have to push it an awful long way to the cpu and graphics cards

Pump yes easy.

Primochill tube is my choice.. however I use 7/16

Yes you can run 2 pumps but it will not drop temps, it will add piece of mind that if one breaks the system will be fine.

You can mount a single D5 in the bottom of a TJ07 on setting 3 and be fine all day. If you are using a TJ07 I would recommend a vertical res as opposed to a bay res, much easier to bleed and a lot less hassle.

Yeh once the pump is install you cant get to the speed control, unless you mod the case abit, or have the tube slack so you can pull it out. then you can get a screw driver in like. this.. make sure that the speed adjust is lined up correcty tho.



To bleed mine I set it high to dislodge the bubbles, and then low to pull them to the pump and then they float up to the top, before they reach the pumps inlet.

But If the BAY Res does get air trapped, you can tip the case back 45 - 70 deg and then turn the pump on for about 1 -2 seconds and then off again. Which brings the air to the center of the impelor and buy turning it off it the bubble will float out. (if you put it on its side completely the air bubble will go back into the loop.)

I wouldn't not use the bay res. I would swap my standalone for a bay one. would allow me to get the loop neater.

Not strictly.. if you went

PUMP > RAD > RES > CPU > GPU > PUMP

You are f*cked, the res will kill the pressure.

I know that you know that theseekeroffun but saying it to a beginner could be miss leading.

And tbh, as long as the res is above (feeding) the pump your fine.

if i put the bay reservoir at the highest bay and the pump all the way at the bottom that would be good?

I am doing reservoir > pump > cpu > gpu > gpu > to rad


also i might add another rad in there

You need to pump to the rad first, pumps add heat to the loop.

Have a look at mine water-cooling in the link in my sig it's a good example of a fairly budget loop.

i heard if you do that the radiator won't have enough time to cool the water fast enough resulting in worse performance

Depending on the pump, they will not add much of anything to heat in the loop overall. Martin has done a few good study reviews on this. BUT, to keep pump life the longest, the loop can run as follows ....

RAD > RES > Pump > CPU > GPU > RAD

If you dump all of the CPU and GPU heat through the pump and then the RAD, the pump will have a shorter overall run life.
