E6850 w/Abit newbie question!

Thread Starter
Hello all, I have read through the guides, but I am still a little shaky on trying my first overclock. I am currently using:

Abit IN9-32X MAX Motherboard
Intel E6850 3.0GHz (stock speed)
4GB of DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) RAM

When in the BIOS, I am not sure what I want to change first. Currently, the stock voltage value for the CPU is 1.35V - I assume I want to begin to increase that, correct? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

unlink the ram too, and maybe underclock it so you know everything's stable, then just start uppiing the fsb a few notches at a time, test, and keep doing the same

Well, here's something interesting... I was running CPU-Z before touching anything else and I noticed it said Core Speed 2000MHz... the processor I have is 3Ghz... that can't be correct, right?

If you have speedstep or EIST enabled, the CPU multiplier willl drop while the system is idle. Try opening up another program while watching the CPU-Z window, you should see the speed jump up.
