Steelseries Siberia V2 Quality?

I am wanting to get a really good headset for Computer and mainly PS3 use. I thought about buying a astro mixamp and then buying the Steelseries Siberia V2 in red or white. I was wondering what you guys thought of this idea? Also if anyone owns some how do you like them? What color do you have?

I have a white siberia headset with the clip on, mic, not sure which revision but they're all quite similar. The headset feels really delicate, and the clip that holds the mic on broke almost immediately. Im not sure what type of mic the V2 uses though. Honestly, I boguht this thing before I knew anything about audio gear and if I knew then what I know today, I would never have touched it. Much better quality headphones can be gotten for the same price.

In their defense though they were EXTREMELY comfortable (velour pads, not pleather), quite lightweight, not bad looking and never had a problem with the build quality of the actual headset. The sound quality is very mediocre for music, but serviceable for gaming.

So from what I understand now is that the Mix-Amp has a port for headphones and a port for a mic... I was advised to just buy some really good cans and get a clip on mic...

This Zalman one will do just fine. You can just clip it onto the HD598's cable. It's what I use and I have no problems.

The v1 beats the v2 in terms of comfort and soundstage ... also , If u intend on gaming for prolonged periods, open cans are a LOT better than closed ones.. less strain on your eardrums!

The only thing lacking in the v1 is this : it takes forever to break in .. I 'm talking a good fortnight or so.. they sound more horrid before truly loosening up.

The V2s offer better sound isolation , better audio .. a choice of earpads, an inline mic, and a bigger body ( I think so )

The V2s are simply not worth it if you're into gaming .. buy an HD558 .. it'll suffice for you gaming AND music needs !

What Shredicus had to say , yes, they're amazing , comfort wise..
The velour and the suspension , coupled with the hollow frame - win !!!

Durablitity ?? MY sidewinder x6 barely fits my backpack ( it's a a thin rollable nylon bag)
After I've forced the edges of the bag around my KB , my mousepads go in ( 2 440mm pads) and the mouse , AND the headphones..

AT WORSE < you'll bend the metal frame ( not happened with me thus far) ,, bend it back!
THe mic is a PITA .. but it IS clip on if you;'re looking for that.

The Roccat Kova is a MUCH better option!
Go for it .

EDIT : Just read the last 2 posts.. if you're sold on the 598's go right ahead..
May I offer another option ? Check out the 350s .. they're the best for gaming . period.. THey're 340$ here.. So I'm waiting for someone to buy me a pair smile.gif Am stuck with the pxc 300s till then smile.gif
