ASUS G1S-B1 Laptop

Thread Starter
Hey OCN,

Looking to sell my laptop and am pretty clueless on how to price it. It was a beast of a laptop in its day and still holds up fairly well today. The battery will only last 1.5-2 hours though with steady use.

******^^ instead of that DVI port, there's an HDMI/eSATA port there ^^*****

Specs are as follows:

Screen: 15.4" 1680x1050 LCD
CPU: Intel C2D T7700 (2.4GHz)
RAM: 2GB DDR2 (supports at least 4)
GPU: Nvidia 8600M GT
HDD: 200GB 7200RPM
OS: Win 7 Pro x86 (and the original 32-bit Vista key)

Other goodies: Card reader/HDMI out/eSATA/Firewire/1.3MP webcam/lightscribe dvd burner

There are a couple cosmetic chips in the plastic shell but the keyboard/screen are perfect.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOWEVER there is one hitch in its performance:

The charging port has a broken internal connection that requires an upward force on the connector for it to properly charge. I disassembled the laptop and re-soldered the broken connection but it broke again a few days down the road.

It's prefectly fine for use on a desk with something propped under the cable, but using it on your lap requires creativity to keep it charging/plugged in.

(Getting the laptop to the point of attempting to solder the connection again is about an hour's labor involving a TON of screws so i'm not likely to try again.)

PS: I cleaned out the inside and re-seated the CPU/GPU while the laptop was disassembled.

Any ideas on where i could start?

Thanks
