2600k Overclock situation - Page 2

Were in the same boat bud,

My cpu will switch to clocks inbetween 1600-4200 but the voltage is always at 1.25V.. Kinda bummed out a bit... BTW this is on my 2500k rig with a P67A-UD7. Theres just sooo many bios settings its over whelming.

my clock speed doesn't switch on anything between 1600 and 4500...its either 1600 or 4500..also i've ran prime for about 10 min now and i got a bsod so i've added some vcore..right now im at offset -0.035 and my llc is on medium..doing another prime test as im writing

I'm getting ready to just load defaults again, and just move it back to 4.2ghz and not touch anything except set it to llc level 1 so i can use the default voltage.

BLCK: 100
EPU: ENABLED
Internal PLL: DISABLED
VCORE: Offset Mode -0.030
CPU PLL: 1.725
CPU Phase: Extreme
C1E: Enabled
Speedstep: Enabled
C3 & C6: Auto
CPU Ratio: 45
LLC: Medium

now...with these settings in prime95 blend im getting 4.5Ghz @ 1.270V and on idle i get 1600Ghz @ ~0.960V

however, when i start up crysis which loads about 20% of my cpu my cpu frequency jumps to 4500 @ 1.310V

why does it need more voltage when on 20% load then on full 100% load?

and why my cpu can either be 1600 or 4500? can't it be anything in between? it can only be lowest speed and full speed?

My temps @ full load : max 69
@ idle: ~35

My H80 is on Silent Mode
thanks
I think you didnt read what i said

Medium llc + c3/c6 off/auto = higher vcore in light load
Ultra high llc +c3/c6 off/auto gives about the same vcore on light/heavy load.
the best to use in your case is ultra high llc.
Medium llc is the best when you have c3/c6 enabled so the vcore doesnt drop too much on light load compared to ultra high.

I believe the clock moves betwen 1600/4500 according to realtemp 3.67 but cpuz doesnt show it.

i did read what you said but i've realised that my temps rise a lot when i use high llc... probably 5-7 degrees between medium and ultra high

right now with my corsair h80 on silent mode IBT gives me max 75 but then it averages on ~70 at full load at 4500 with 1.270vcore

isnt that a little too high for this vcore?

EDIT: alright so i've set my llc to ultra high and i don't know which one is better
the images are in this order: CRYSIS @ MEDIUM LLC, CRYSIS @ ULTRA HIGH LLC, FULL LOAD @ MEDIUM LLC, FULL LOAD @ ULTRA HIGH LLC
http://imageshack.us/g/35/crysiset.png/

there you can see my cpu at both medium llc and ulra high llc with c3 and c6 on Auto

my other bios settings are as following on both cases:

multi: 45
internal pll: disabled
epu settings: on
llc: medium/ultra high
cpu phase: extreme
cpu duty cycle: t. probe
vcore: offset -0.030
cpu pll: 1.725

all the rest are on auto/default

so crysis is using as much resources as on full load? :| that doesn't seem right to me

also for my cpu i need around 1.290 to be stable @ 4500 ( the last test that i did for 12hours ) so maybe if i let it set on ultra high llc but i set my offset to 1.060 my full load vcore will max at around 1.300 and crysis the same? also maybe my temps will drop from ~74 to 70?

what do you think?

EDIT2: alright so i went ahead and set my offset voltage to -0.060 at ultra high llc and this is what im getting:

http://imageshack.us/g/89/crysis3g.png/

again, my corsair h80 is set on silent mode(lowest fan speeds)

You're last screenshot looks good.
Also you can use HWinfo64 if you want to monitor you're vcore more accurately(min/current/max).
Now you can try even lower offset since you passed prime at 1.290v.

Why I understand that everyone has a different approach to settings - I think that every mobo and cpu is going to require a different approach.

Where you say to keep C1E enabled - I have mine off - at 4.6Ghz.

I really want to get all of us i2600k guys with Gigabyte boards to start discussing this heavy --- I will start a new thread and see if I can get the attention needed.

All of us here should be able to use the same mobo/cpu settings - even if the RAM is different brand - still just run at the same frequency and compile the information and results.

What do you think?
