New some advice asap!!

Thread Starter
So I get home from work and I got to turn on my computer. Here's the situation.

Turn on monitor.
Turn on computer.
No post on the monitor.
Computer will turn on and stay on for about 5 seconds, then it shuts off for about 2 seconds, and turns back on.
Repeat.

Only way I can get it to turn off is if o turn off the PSU manually.

Haven't had the chance to fully look it over as my girlfriend being over atm.

Where should I start? And what should I do?

firstly check if you plugged in the mobo speaker

then if you get no post at all i would suggest taking all the RAM sticks out and try again

if still no post RMA the mobo since i've had this problem with no post and shut off after a few secs and when i took back to the store they told me it was a factory defective mobo and gave me a new one...i guess things like this happen

P.S.: this is from personal experience so it might not apply to your situation but i thought i'd just let you know of a posibility

goodluck

CMOS reset would be a good place to start.

After that, getting a error code would be nice.

Your mobo manual should be able to tell you what the problem is.

gigabyte boards seem to be plagued by reboot loops...

if all else fails it's probably your powersupply not giving enough juice to start the system up, happened with an old ocz psu of mine, i'd rule everything else out first though

Tried taking out the RAM. - Nope.
Clearing CMOS - Nope.

PSU Fan still spins and comes on.

If anyone has anymore ideas that'd be highly appreciated. School starts next week and I'd really hate to have to RMA my board now.. >.<

How computer savy are you?

If its a yes, unplug leads off mobo from the case, and use anything on the 2 pins to power it up. If you dont know what pins dont do it. But that will rule out your switch to powering it on out.

Once thats done eliminate all ram, except for one module(your board may require 2, if so use 2). In Australia i use metho for a contact cleaner, you should do that with a equevalant where ever you are on the ram, then same to the gpu. If you got a spare working gpu, that would help a lot. Now beyond that we need beep codes, cause if it is the cpu, we can only guess.

Took the GPU out and attempted to use the on-board, didn't work. Tried no RAM, 1 stick, no dice. Gonna try my spare power supply.

As for the beep codes, it never beeped, although ALL of my Phase Light LED were lit up..

I don't know about the whole touching 2 pins together. Sorry D:

Once you do the psu.

try unplugging your reset swich and plug that into where the power switch would go. Other then that using a conductive cleaner would really help, metho = 95% ethanol thats tained to stop you drinking it

Tried plugging in the reset to the power. No go either..

This is with the new PSU btw, so I guess I'll try to get it all back together and attempt to get some beep codes.

But the more I try and more I fail I just think that I'm going to have to RMA my board.. :/

Also I don't know if I can even get error code beeps. The screen stays black and the monitor doesn't even detect a signal. Just powers up, then down..
