GTX 570 problem help , freezing, white checkers, sound loop

Thread Starter
Haphazardly when I play games, the screen freezes and a group of white squares smother the screen. Oddly it merely occurs during games and not anytime else. Sometimes the sound loops as well. It only occurs about once an hour or so and after about 10 seconds it goes back to normal, but a few times i have had to reset the pc. This is a brand new pc i built myself about 2 weeks ago so I'm very confused as to why it's having problems already.

I have an i5 2500k sandy bridges cpu and 8 gb ram
and i am using an MSI Z68 motherboard

i have gpu-z and there is no problem with temperatures or anything, can someone help me figure out why this is happening?

Which PSU do you have?

Also, is the 570 overclocked?

I don't know if this would be related, but which driver are you using?

Then it has to be some kind of hardware-related issue (so, I think it's probably over my head).

Although, I am confident that someone here on OCN will be able to help figure out what's going on.
