GTX460 Cooling question

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I've recently just bought the Zotac GTX460 AMP! Edition.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Z...Edition/2.html

How is the Zotac cooler? The card I bought is a used card and came with the Accelero Twin Turbo II. Which cooler is better? Is there even a significant difference between them?

Also, how good are these Zotac cards for OC-ing?

Thanks guys

Personally, I like using the stock cooler on GPU's unless you go with water block cooling. I've used an Accerelo product on my last build and I fried my GPU's memory. While it does a great job at cooling the actual GPU, I found that many other people were having trouble with other parts of the card running way too hot.

Wow thanks for the fast replies guys.

Phain,
Is there anyway to check the temps of the other parts? Whats the same temp for the vram and stuff?

Jassi
I've never oc-ed a gpu before, so this will be my first time. What are the safe volts for this particular card?

So the stock cooler would be better than the Accelero TWIN Turbo II? Anyway I could check the temps of the Vrams?

I see two people have VRM fried when using aftermarket coolers. Are they actually using VRM heatsinks? Arctic Cooling Accelero are usually great GPU coolers. Certainly better than stock cooler.

The one I bought came attached with the Accelero Cooler and already have the silver heat sinks attached.

Should I disassemble it and use the stock cooler? Am planning to overclock the graphics card to help with folding.

Sure, it's great for gpu cooling, but if you are planning on cooling the gpu you might want to check out some VRM coolers. Thermalright makes good dedicated VRM coolers. About ram i donk know really, the little heatsinks work ok because they probably don't get hit since some manifacturers don't put anything on them and it's fine. If you get your chips cooled sure the accelero is great and i recommend it then. But only if you have good chipset heatsinks

Thanks everyone, I'll try the Accelero for now and see how hot the VRMs get. If they get too hot, I'll follow markothevrba's advice and get some Thermalright VRM coolers.

Dont think its worth getting a Waterblock for the gtx460, might just sell it and upgrade to a better GPU.

Can anyone recommend a decent graphics card that comes with a waterblock? (Folding on this rig is really important for I'll prolly stick with Nvidia)
